Hiya CEO Alejandra Wells: A Young Leader Making Waves in Mental Health Advocacy

We are thrilled to spotlight our remarkable teen client, Alejandra Wells, and her inspiring journey as the founder of Hiya, an online jewelry boutique with a powerful mission — to promote mental health awareness among teens.

Recently named Mentor Nebraska's Young Leader of the Year, Alejandra continues to prove that even the youngest leaders can drive meaningful progress in mentoring and mental health advocacy. In her acceptance speech, Alejandra shared her ambitious plans to launch a teen lifestyle magazine — a print and digital platform aimed at amplifying the voices of young changemakers in her community. As she sets her sights on this exciting endeavor, Alejandra said, she needs your support. She’s seeking donations and advertisers to bring her vision to life but will also empower teens to share their stories and make a positive impact.

But Alejandra's impact doesn't stop there. She also sits on the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center’s KIDS Nebraska, an advisory group created for teens ages 13-18 who are focused on understanding, communicating, and improving medicine, research, and innovation for all children. KIDS stands for “Kids and Families Impacting Disease through Science,” a global consortium of children’s advisory groups.

Additionally, Alejandra's journey extends beyond local recognition. She has been selected to attend the prestigious ICAN 2024 Research and Advocacy Summit in Bari, Italy, this July. At the summit, Alejandra hopes to present Hiya and raise awareness about teen mental health and suicide prevention to individuals, industry, and government agencies who can make a difference in pediatric healthcare.
